“My body and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:26)
With deep faith in God and a loving missionary spirit, Sr. Magdalene Parakh lived a life of prayer, service, and sacrifice. She dedicated her whole life to God and lovingly served the poor, abandoned, children, women, and those who were suffering. Through her kindness, simplicity, and caring nature, she touched many lives with hope and joy.
Sr. Magdalene belonged to the Society of St. Ursula and faithfully served the congregation for nearly 66 years. Her religious life was marked by humility, obedience, simplicity, and deep trust in God. She was known for her calm nature, loving heart, and concern for everyone.
She was born in Rahuri, Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra, in a devoted Christian family. From childhood, she was inspired by faith and the spirit of service. Following God’s call, she joined the Society of St. Ursula on 20 May 1960.
After her religious formation, she served in different missions and institutions in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, and other places. She worked especially for the welfare of women, children, and the poor. Her life was a beautiful example of faith, discipline, charity, and selfless service. She also carried out many responsibilities in the congregation with dedication and sincerity. She guided young sisters, supported students and families, and inspired many by her prayerful and disciplined life. Her presence brought peace, strength, and encouragement wherever she served.
In her later years, even while facing health problems, she remained strong in faith and close to God. She accepted suffering with patience and trust. Surrounded by the prayers and love of her fellow sisters, she peacefully returned to the Heavenly Father on 21 May 2026. Her passing is a great loss to the Society of St. Ursula and to all who knew and loved her. Yet, her values, missionary spirit, and loving service will continue to inspire many.
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
May the Lord grant eternal rest to Sr. Magdalene Parakh and reward her for her faithful and loving service.
